Aratoshi Mitsuo - 荒闘司 三男 (born December 7, 1985) is a former Mongolian professional sumo wrestler from Ulaanbaatar. He made his debut in July 2008 and wrestled for Irumagawa stable. His highest rank was makushita 39 and he retired in January 2016.

Early Life[]

Tserendorj Vanchigtseren was born and raised in Ulaanbaatar. He attended Tokyo University of Agriculture and was a member of their sumo club. Upon graduation from college, he was joined Irumagawa stable in July 2008. He was given the shikona "Aratoshi" (荒闘司).

Career[]

Aratoshi had an impressive debut where he won all seven matches to claim the jonokuchi yusho. As a result, he was promoted to the jonidan division for the following tournament. He struggled in this tournament and barely produced a winning record. In the March 2009 tournament, Aratoshi was injured in the match and subsequently had to pull out of the tournament. He continued to sit out of the following six tournaments and fell off the banzuke in November 2009.

He returned to maezumo (pre-sumo) in July 2010 and won all three of his matches. In the following tournament he won all seven matches to win his second jonokuchi yusho. He was promoted back to sandanme in November 2010 and the makushita division in January 2012. In his makushita debut, he posted five wins and was promoted to a career-best makushita 39 in March 2012. However, Aratoshi could not establish himself in the makushita division and was demoted back to sandanme. He would remain in sandanme for the majority of his later career, with the occasional promotion back to makushita.

Retirement from Sumo[]

Aratoshi was plagued with injuries for majority of his sumo career. After suffering yet another injury in November 2014, Aratoshi announced his retirement a little over a year later, after the January 2016 tournament.

Upon retirement from Sumo, Aratoshi remained in Japan. He currently operates a mutton barbecue restaurant in Ishiwara, Sumida Ward, Tokyo, called "Hokkaido Jingisukan" (北海道ジンギスカン).
