Daikosho Taiyo - 大皇翔 大陽 (born February 21, 2002) is a Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Takamatsu, Kagawa. He made his debut in March 2025 and currently wrestles for Oitekaze stable. His highest rank as of 2025 is makushita 33.
Early Life[]
Taiyo Shirakawa was born on February 21, 2002, in Takamatsu, Kagawa. During his third year at Takamatsu Shiritsu Katsuga Junior High School, he won a prefectural sumo tournament. In his second year at Takamatsu Minami High School, he reached the top 8 in the National High School Selection Tournament. After finishing high school, he enrolled at Nihon University and was a member of the school's strong sumo club. Upon graduating from university, Shirakawa opted to turn professional and joined Oitekaze stable.[1]
Career[]
Shirakawa made his professional debut in March 2024 and was given the shikona "Daikosho" (大皇翔). He was promoted to the sandanme division for the September 2024 tournament. In January 2025, Daikosho won his first six matches and was aiming for the sandanme yusho before losing his final match to Noda. Nevertheless, he finished with a strong 6-1 record and was promoted to the makushita division for the March 2025 tournament.[2]

- Daikosho's older brother, Oki Shirakawa (born August 18, 2000), is also a rikishi at Oitekaze stable who wrestles under the name Daikisho.[1]

Daikosho is proficient in both yotsu-sumo (grappling) and oshi-sumo (pushing and thrusting) techniques. His most often used winning kimarite is oshidashi (push out), followed by yorikiri (force out).[3]
