Career[]
20 year old Ganbat Batzaya joined Magaki stable alongside Naidan Bayarhu (Bontensho) in January 2001 and was given the shikona "Daitenzan" (大天山). He was a consistent sumo wrestler and in his rise to sandanme, he only produced one losing record. He earned promotion to the sandman division in May 2002. Initially, Daitenzan struggled in sandanme and he did not become a sandanme mainstay until July 2003. He was promoted to makushita in September 2004.
Retirement from Sumo[]
Daitenzan produced a 2-5 record in his lone makushita tournament and was demoted back down to sandanme. Following this, he sat out of two tournaments and his retirement was announced after the January 2005 tournament.
According to his Facebook, he currently resides in Evanston, Illinois.
Fighting Style[]
Daitenzan was a yotsu-sumo wrestler who prefers grappling to pushing and thrusting techniques. He won most of his bouts with a straightforward yorikiri, or force out.
