Edohibiki Hiroaki - 江戸響 博昭 (born September 4, 1941) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Taito, Tokyo. He made his debut in September 1957 and wrestled for Tatsunami stable. He reached the juryo division in July 1968. His highest rank was juryo 1 and he retired in November 1970.

Career[]

Ikeda made his professional debut in September 1957, joining Tatsunami stable. He was promoted to sandanme in November 1959 and makushita in May 1960. In July 1961 he changed his shikona to "Edohibiki" (江戸響) and in May 1968, he won the makushita yusho with a perfect 7-0 record and was promoted to juryo for the following July 1968 tournament. Edohibiki gradually climbed the ranks, and rose to the top of juryo by July 1969. In this tournament he won his first three matches, but in his third match he sprained his right knee and subsequently had to withdraw. Still suffering the side effects of his injured knee he followed with a disastrous 1-14 record in September 1969 and was demoted back down to makushita. He returned to juryo in September 1970, but re-sprained his right knee and pulled out on the 10th day after only recording one win. He retired from the sport in the following November 1970 tournament.

Fighting Style[]

Edohibiki was a yotsu-sumo wrestler who prefers grappling to pushing and thrusting techniques. He favored a hidari-yotsu (right hand outside, left hand inside) position when gripping his opponent's mawashi (belt). His most common kimarite was yorikiri, or force out. He was also fond of employing sotogake, or outside leg trip.
