Fujimoto Yusuke - 藤本 悠介 (born June 9, 1986) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Fukuchi, Fukuoka. He made his debut in July 2003 and wrestled for Onomatsu stable. His highest rank was makushita 3 and he retired in November 2014.
Early Life[]
Fujimoto was born the fourth of eight children in Fukuchi, Fukuoka. His parents operated a rice store and Fujimoto regularly helped out by carrying rice bags since an early age. During the fourth grade, he met Takatoriki and aspired to become a sumo wrestler. He attended Meitoku Gijuku Junior High School, which was known for its strong sumo program. In 2001, during his third year of junior high school, Fujimoto led his school to a victory at the National Junior High School Sumo Tournament. After junior high school, he attended Meitoku Gijuku Senior High School where he was classmates with the future Tochiozan and Tokushoryu. However, he decided to go professional and dropped out after a year in high school and joined Onomatsu stable.
Career[]
He made his debut in July 2003 and in his first professional tournament, Fujimoto won the jonokuchi yusho with a perfect 7-0 record. He followed with five consecutive winning records, but found it difficult to break through the sandanme wall. He reached the makushita division in July 2006 and reached a career-best makushita 3 rank in November 2012. He retired from sumo in November 2014.

After retiring from sumo, Fujimoto serves as a member of the advisory staff for the company Baseball MAPS.

Fujimoto was an oshi-sumo wrestler who prefers pushing and thrusting techniques to fighting on the mawashi. His most common kimarite used was a straightforward oshidashi, or push out.
