Career[]

Early Career[]

At the age of 16, Tsuchiyama joined Kumegawa stable and made his professional debut in January 1940. Upon closure of Kumegawa stable, he transferred to the Futabayama Dojo in 1941 (later renamed Tokitsukaze stable). He was promoted to sandanme in May 1941 and makushita in May 1942. He won the makushita yusho in January 1943 with a prefect 8-0 record and was promoted to juryo in January 1944. Upon promotion to juryo, Tsuchiyama was given the shikona "Futagoiwa" (双子岩). However, he finished with a poor 4-11 record in his first tournament as a sekitori and was demoted back down to makushita. He returned to juryo in November 1944 and was promoted to makuuchi in November 1945.

Makuuchi Career[]

Futagoiwa produced a strong 7-3 record in his top division debut, however, he abruptly retired prior to the following November 1946 tournament.

Fighting Style[]

Futagoiwa was a yotsu-sumo wrestler who prefers grappling to pushing and thrusting techniques. He favored a migi-yotsu (left hand outside, right hand inside) position when gripping his opponent's mawashi (belt). He was fond of employing shitatenage (overarm throw).
