Career[]
Early Career[]
Hatsuyama made his professional debut in March 2022 and due to his amateur accomplishments, he allowed to make his debut at the bottom of sandanme (sandanme tsukedashi). In May 2022, he won his first six matches, but missed out on the sandanme yusho after losing to Kamitani in his final match. He had to withdraw from Day 11 of the July 2022 tournament after another COVID outbreak at Tamanoi stable. Nevertheless, he had already obtained four wins and was promoted to makushita for the following September 2022 tournament.[2]
In September 2024, Hatsuyama won the makushita yusho with a perfect 7-0 record. Having been ranked at makushita 16 east, he was just one rank shy of earning an automatic promotion to juryo. He was promoted to the top of makushita for the November 2024 tournament, where he posted a 5-2 record, securing his advancement to the salaried juryo division for the January 2025 tournament.[2]
Juryo Career[]
Upon his promotion to Juryo, he chose to keep his family name as his ring name rather than adopting a proper shikona, citing its rarity, with only around 20 people in Japan sharing the surname.[3] Hatsuyama finished with a 6-9 record in his first tournament as a sekitori.[2]
