Yokozuna Hidenoyama was the stable's top wrestler

Hidenoyama stable (秀ノ山部屋, Hidenoyama-beya) was a stable of sumo wrestlers which was established in the Edo period and was shut down in 1914 with all personnel transferring to Dewanoumi stable.

History[]

Sometime in the early 19th century, komusubi Hidenoyama, who was still active, branched out of Isenoumi stable and established Hidenoyama stable. He produced several top division wrestlers including ozeki Okido Morinosuke, Omisaki Joemon, and Genjiyama Kichidayu. Hidenoyama Oyakata died in July 1823, and ozeki Genjiyama Kichidayu inherited the stable.

Hidenoyama Oyakata (former ozeki Genjiyama Kichidayu) produced the 9th yokozuna Hidenoyama Raigoro. Hidenoyama Oyakata (former ozeki Genjiyama Kichidayu) died in March 1844 and yokozuna Hidenoyama took over the stable. Yokozuna Hidenoyama died in May 1862 and former juryo Oeyama became the new head coach. However, he died one year later in November 1863 and maegashira Kashimanada inherited the stable. Hidenoyama Oyakata (former maegashira Kashimanada) died in August 1893 and maegashira Amatsukaze became the new stablemaster. Hidenoyama Oyakata (former maegashira Amatsukaze) died in September 1914 and the stable closed down with all personnel transferring to Dewanoumi stable.
