Isamizuki Naoya - 諫瑞喜 直也 (born February 7, 1990) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Isahaya, Nagasaki. He made his debut in March 2008 and wrestled for Sakaigawa stable. His highest rank was makushita 58 and he retired in September 2012.

Early Life[]

Naoya Miyazaki was born on February 7, 1990, in Isahaya, Nagasaki. He already weighed 130 kg (287 lb) as a 15 year old junior high school kid, but increased his weight by almost 70 kg during his time at Isahaya Agricultural Senior High School. He was a member of his high school's sumo club and reached the top 16 at the inter-high school sumo competition. After graduating high school, he joined Sakaigawa stable because Sakaigawa Oyakata (former komusubi Ryogoku) is also an alumnus of Isahaya Agricultural Senior High School.

Career[]

He made his debut in March 2008 and was given the shikona "Isamizuki" (諫瑞喜). Already weighing at 206 kg (454 lb), he was the 2nd heaviest new recruit of all time, only behind Yamamotoyama who weighed at 233 kg (514 lb). He reached the sandanme division in January 2010 and in September 2011, he finished with as strong 6-1 record to earn promotion to makushita for the following November 2011 tournament. However, he finished with a 2-5 record in his lone makushita tournament. He retired shortly after in September 2012.

Isamizuki was proficient in both yotsu-sumo (grappling) and oshi-sumo (pushing and thrusting) techniques. His most common techniques were yorikiri (force out) and oshidashi (push out).
