Kaitoma Aron - 魁當真 亜龍 (born May 11, 2001) is a former Filipino-Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Yokohama, Kanagawa. He made his debut in March 2017 and wrestled for Asakayama stable. His highest rank was jonidan 2 and he retired in May 2025.

Early Life[]

Mark Aaron Justin Toma was born on May 11, 2001, in the Philippines[1] and he grew up in Quezon City's Kamuning neighborhood as well as the Municipality of Santa Rosa in Nueva Ecija province.[2] His mother is of Filipino descent and his father is of Japanese, Brazilian, and Filipino descent.[3] He later moved to Japan and settled in Yokohama's Hodogaya Ward. He joined Asakayama stable in 2017.[3]

Career[]

He made his professional debut in March 2017 and was given the shikona "Kaitoma" (魁當真). He used Yokohama as his official birthplace when joining sumo so he is not counted as a foreign sumo wrestler. In January 2019, Kaitoma finished with a strong 6-1 record and was promoted to a career-best jonidan 2 for the March 2019 tournament.[4]

Retirement from Sumo[]

Kaitoma retired from professional sumo after the May 2025 tournament, citing knee and hip related injuries. After retirement, he plans to work as an interpreter due to his ability to speak Tagalog and English.[5]

Kaitoma is a yotsu-sumo wrestler who prefers grappling to pushing and thrusting techniques. He won most of his bouts with a straightforward yorikiri, or force out.[6]
