Kamito Daiki - 上戸 大輝 (born August 19, 1995) is a Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Omura, Nagasaki. He made his debut in March 2017 and currently wrestles for Tatsunami stable. His highest rank as of 2025 is makushita 3.
Early Life[]
Kamito was born on May 4, 1984, in Omura, Nagasaki, to a Japanese father and a Filipino mother.[1] From an early age he played a variety of sports such as karate, kendo and basketball. During his fifth year at Omura Elementary School, he was invited by a coach to start playing rugby.[2]
He went on to attend Omura Shiritsu Kushima Junior High School where he participated in rugby and swimming. Kamito then attended Omura Technical Senior High School where he was captain of the rugby club and had a successful showing on the national scene.[2] During his second year of high school, Kamito was given an offer to join professional sumo by Tatsunami Oyakata (former komusubi Asahiyutaka), but he rejected the offer as he wanted to continue playing rugby.[3] However, during his third year of high school, Kamito underwent surgery for a meniscus injury on his right knee which hindered his playing ability. After graduating high school, Kamito enrolled at Chukyo University where he studied sports science. Kamito ended up dropping out of college in his third year.[2][3] After dropping out of college, Kamito took up Tatsunami Oyakata's offer and joined Tatsunami stable.
Career[]
Kamito made his professional debut in March 2017. He was promoted to sandanme in January 2018 and makushita in January 2019. At the time of his makushita debut, Kamito had only posted only one losing record, all the more impressive that he had no prior sumo experience. From May 2021, Kamito produced seven consecutive winning records and was promoted to the rank of makushita 4 in July 2022. In this tournament Kamito faced off against juryo-ranked Kotokuzan on the 14th day, however, he lost and finished with a 3-4 record. In the November 2022 tournament, Kamito faced off against former ozeki Asanoyama, but lost.[4]
Fighting Style[]

Kamito defeats Yoshii by oshidashi (push out)
Kamito is an oshi-sumo wrestler who prefers pushing and thrusting techniques to fighting on the mawashi. His most common kimarite used is a straightforward oshidashi, or push out.[5]
