Kamiyutaka Dai - 加美豊 大 (born October 30, 1986) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Natori, Miyagi. He made his debut in May 2009 and wrestled for Tokitsukaze stable. His highest rank was makushita 26 and he retired in September 2018.

Early Life[]

Dai Sato was born on October 30, 1986, in Natori City, Miyagi. After graduating from Miyagi Prefecture Kami Agricultural High School, he enrolled at Tokyo University of Agriculture where he was a member of the school's sumo club.[1] After graduating, he opted to go professional and joined Tokitsukaze stable.[2]

Career[]

He made his professional debut in May 2009 and was given the shikona "Kamiyutaka" (加美豊) which was derived from his high school.[1] He breezed through the jonokuchi and jonidan divisions, and was promoted to sandanme in November 2009. After two years in sandanme, he was promoted to makushita in September 2011. He finished with a 6-1 record in his makushita debut and was promoted to a career-best makushita 26 for the following November 2011 tournament. However, he could only manage a 2-5 record and eventually fell back down to sandanme. Kamiyutaka would spend the majority of his career in sandanme as he was only ranked in makushita for a total of four tournaments. He suffered a serious injury prior to the September 2015 tournament and had to miss four tournaments. As a result, he fell all off the banzuke and had to redo maezumo (pre-sumo) in May 2016. He eventually retired from sumo all together in September 2018.[2]
