Kitadaichi Yutaka - 北大地 豊 (born July 8, 1998) is a Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Yubari, Hokkaido. He made his debut in March 2014 and currently wrestles for Tatsunami stable. His highest rank as of 2025 is makushita 3.
Early Life[]
Daichi Sasaki was born on July 8, 1998, in Yubari, Hokkaido. Sasaki was a member of a local sumo club in Yubari and was recruited into Tatsunami stable after junior high school.[1]
Career[]
Sasaki made his professional debut in March 2014 and was given the shikona "Kitadaichi" (北大地). He had a very gradual rise through the lower divisions, reaching sandanme in March 2016 and makushita in January 2020. In September 2023, he finished with a strong 6-1 record at the rank of makushita 17, and was placed in a seven man playoff for the makushita yusho. Kitadaichi was able to defeat Asahakuryu in the first round, but lost to the eventual yusho winner Hitoshi in the second round. Nevertheless, he was promoted to the rank of makushita 3 for the following November 2023 tournament. In this tournament, Kitadaichi faced off against two juryo-ranked wrestlers, Shiden and Tenshoho, and lost both matches. Finishing with a 3-4 record, Kitadaichi was unable to capitalize on a juryo promotion.[2]
Fighting Style[]

Kitadaichi defeats Oshoumi by uwatenage (overarm throw)
Kitadaichi is an oshi-sumo wrestler who prefers pushing and thrusting techniques to fighting on the mawashi. His most common kimarite used is a straightforward oshidashi, or push out. He also regularly won with throwing techniques such as shitatenage (underarm throw), uwatenage (overarm throw), and sukuinage (beltless arm throw).[3]
