Kokiryu Kaito - 煌貴龍 快斗 (born September 14, 2004) is a former Chinese-Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Osaka City, Osaka. He made his debut in September 2022 and wrestled for Tatsunami stable. His highest rank was jonidan 27 and he retired in November 2024.
Early Life[]
Peihuang Chen was born on September 14, 2004, in the city of Fuqing in Fujian Province, China.[1] He moved to Japan during the second grade and attended Higashiosaka College Kashiwara High School where he was a member of the school's judo club. He won an Osaka prefecture judo tournament in the above 100kg class. Chen dropped out during his third year of high school and joined Tatsunami stable. His birthplace is officially listed as Osaka so he is not counted as a foreign wrestler.[2]
Career[]
He made his professional debut in September 2022 and was given the shikona "Kokiryu" (煌貴龍). He finished with a solid 5-2 record in his first professional tournament in November 2022. He reached a career-best jonidan 27 in July 2023, however, he finished with a poor 1-6 record in this tournament. Following this performance, Kokiryu struggled to make any meaningful progress and he withdrew from the July 2024 tournament. He never returned to the dohyo and eventually fell off the banzuke in November 2024. His retirement was officially announced after the November 2024 tournament.[3]
Fighting Style[]

Kokiryu defeats Higohikari by oshidashi (push out)
Kokiryu was an oshi-sumo wrestler who prefers pushing and thrusting techniques to fighting on the mawashi. His most common kimarite used was a straightforward oshidashi, or push out.[4]
