Early Life[]

Yasumasa Inoue was born on May 11, 1985, in Komaki, Aichi. He attended Aikodai Meiden High School in Nagoya and was a member of the school's sumo club.[1] In 2003, at the National Inter-High School Championships, Inoue finished third in the individual competition.[2] Upon finishing high school, he enrolled at Toyo University in Tokyo to continue his amateur sumo career. After graduating university, he opted to go professional and joined Kise stable.[3]

Career[]

He made his professional debut in March 2008 and initially wrestled under his surname Inoue. He was promoted to sandanme in November 2008 and makushita in September 2009. In May 2010, he transferred to Kitanoumi stable due to his stable's closure, however, his old stable was reestablished April 2012 and re-transferred back to Kise stable as a result. He reached a career-best makushita 33 in March 2013, but could only manage a 3-4 record. In the following May 2013 tournament, he was given the shikona "Komakiryu" (駒木龍). He spent the majority of his career wrestling in the sandanme division with multiple stints in makushita. In May 2019, Komakiryu faced off against former ozeki and future yokozuna Terunofuji where he lost by yorikiri, or force out. He retired from sumo in July 2020 after twelve years in the sport.[3]
