Matsuhikari Masafumi - 松光 正文 (born April 11, 1943) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Hitachi, Ibaraki. He made his debut in May 1959 and last wrestled for Wakamatsu stable. He reached the juryo division in May 1964. His highest rank was juryo 10 and he retired in September 1966.

Early Life[]

Kurosawa attended Hitachi Shiritsu Taga Junior High School where he was the captain of the soccer club. However, he was also a fan of sumo and opted to become a professional sumo wrestler after graduating junior high school. He initially wanted to write a letter of intent to join Tokitsukaze stable because it was home to ozeki Ouchiyama who also came from Ibaraki prefecture. However, Kurosawa worried that he would not excelled at a large stable like Tokitsukaze stable as he would not have enough personalized training time and instead wrote his letter of intent to the much smaller Wakamatsu stable.

Career[]

He was accepted into Wakamatsu stable and made his professional debut in May 1959. He was promoted to sandanme in May 1960 and makushita in July 1961. He changed his shikona from his surname Kurosawa to "Matsuhikari" (松光) in November 1961. In March 1964 he posted a 5-3 record at the rank of makushita 2 and was promoted to juryo in May 1964. Matsuhikari was ranked in juryo for a total of five tournaments, reaching as high as juryo 10 in November 1964.
