Mudoho Kosei - 夢道鵬 幸成 (born September 18, 2001) is a Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Koto, Tokyo. He made his debut in November 2019 and currently wrestles for Otake stable. He reached the juryo division in May 2025. His highest rank as of 2025 is juryo 14.

Early Life[]

Kosei Naya was born the last of four sons and his father was the active (now retired) makuuchi wrestler Takatoriki and his mother is the daughter of the 48th yokozuna Taiho. He started sumo wrestling at the age of 5 and he participated at the All Japan Elementary School Sumo Tournament during his sixth year at Arima Elementary School. He went on to attend Saitamashiritsuomiyanishi Junior High School in Saitama prefecture and participated in the national prefectural junior high school sumo championship in his third year. He then attended Saitama Sakae High School, however, he did not produce any outstanding results in high school. After graduating from high school, Naya was recommended to continue his sumo career at the college level by his high school sumo coach, but Naya opted to join Otake stable as he could not resist the urge to go professional.[1]

Career[]

He made his professional debut in November 2019 and was given the shikona "Mudoho" (夢道鵬). In his first tournament, Mudoho won his first six matches, but missed out on the jonokuchi yusho after losing to Nihonyanagi in his final match. He followed with another 6-1 record and was promoted to sandanme in July 2020. In his sandanme debut, he won all seven matches, but missed out on the yusho after losing to Fukai in the playoff. Nevertheless, he was promoted to makushita for the following September 2020 tournament after spending only one tournament in each of the previous divisions.

In July 2022, he withdrew from the tournament on the 4th day due to an injury on his right shoulder.[2] As a result, he was demoted back down to sandanme for the following September 2022 tournament. Nevertheless, he immediately returned to makushita in November 2022.

In January 2025, Mudoho won the makushita yusho with a perfect 7-0 record and was promoted to the rank of makushita 3 for the following March 2025 tournament.[3]

Family[]

His father is former sekiwake Takatoriki and his grandfather is the 48th yokozuna Taiho. His oldest brother Yukio is a professional wrestler for the promotion DDT.[4] His third oldest brother, Konosuke, better known as Oho, joined Otake stable in January 2018 and reached makuuchi in January 2022.[1] His second oldest brother, Takamori, joined the stable in March 2020 after graduating from Chuo University and wrestled under the the name Hozan.[5]

Mudoho is proficient in both yotsu-sumo (grappling) and oshi-sumo (pushing and thrusting) techniques. His most often used winning kimarite is oshidashi (push out), followed by yorikiri (force out) and shitatenage (underarm throw).[6]
