Ozeki Noshirogata was the stable's top wrestler
Nishikijima stable (錦島部屋, Nishikijima-beya) was a stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Tokitsukaze ichimon or group of stables. It closed its doors in February 1964, and its staff transferred to Tokitsukaze stable.
History[]
The stable was founded by former maegashira Orochigata Daigoro who ran the stable until his death in 1916. Former sekiwake Orochigata Kumezo then inherited the stable and ran it until his death in 1933. After Orochigata's death, former maegashira Orochiyama took charge of the stable until his death in 1956. After this, san'yaku gyoji Kimura Kesazo (at the time high-ranking gyoji could run stables - this practice is now forbidden) ran the stable until's its closure in 1964. The remaining wrestlers and staff subsequently transferred to the affiliated Tokitsukaze stable. The stable was known for producing Akita prefecture based wrestlers.
