Sakaefuji Yasuhide - 栄富士 康秀 (born August 14, 1992) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Adachi, Tokyo. He made his debut in May 2011 and wrestled for Sakaigawa stable. His highest rank was sandanme 72 and he retired in July 2020.
Early Life[]
Yasuhide Masuda was born on August 14, 1992, in Adachi, Tokyo. He attended Saitama Sakae High School where he was a member of the school's sumo club.[1] After graduating high school, he joined Sakaigawa stable.[2]
Career[]
He made his professional debut in May 2011 and was given the shikona "Sakaefuji" (栄富士). Already weighing at 177 kg (390 lb), he was the heaviest of the 43 new recruits in May 2011. In March 2013, he finished with a strong 6-1 record and was placed in a nine-man playoff for the jonidan yusho, however, he lost in the second round to Hakunoryu. Nevertheless, he was promoted to sandanme for the following May 2013 tournament. Due to multiple injuries, Sakaefuji was never able to establish himself in sandanme and spent majority of his career in jonidan. In May 2015, he was aiming for the jonokuchi yusho and won his first six matches, but lost his final match to Tochinoshima to finish with a 6-1 record. He reached a career-best sandanme 72 in January 2017. Sakaefuji retired from sumo in July 2020.[2]

Sakaefuji was an oshi-sumo wrestler who prefers pushing and thrusting techniques to fighting on the mawashi. His most common kimarite used was a straightforward oshidashi, or push out.[3]
