Sasaki Yuta - 佐々木 悠太 (born January 12, 1987) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Towada, Aomori. He made his debut in March 2002 and wrestled for Naruto stable. His highest rank was makushita 13 and he retired in July 2010.

Career[]

After graduating junior high school, Sasaki joined Naruto stable and made his professional debut in March 2002 alongside stablemate Kisenosato. In September 2002, he won his first six matches, but missed out on the jonidan yusho after losing to Tatsuyutaka in his final match. He was promoted to sandanme in May 2003. In September 2006, he was aiming for the sandanme yusho and he won his first six matches, but he lost his final match to Wakamifuji. Nevertheless, he was promoted to makushita for the following November 2006 tournament. In September 2008, he won his first six matches and was aiming for the makushita yusho, however, he lost his final match to Yotsuguruma. He reached a career-best makushita 13 in March 2010, however, he finished with a poor 1-6 record. He sat out of the following two tournaments and retired in July 2010.

Sasaki was a yotsu-sumo wrestler who prefers grappling to pushing and thrusting techniques. His most common kimarite was yorikiri (force out) and yoritaoshi (frontal crush out).
