Career[]
Early Career[]
He initially wrestled under the shikona "Suwanishiki" (諏訪錦) before switching to "Senshuyama" (泉州山) in January 1996. He was promoted to sandanme in September 1994 and makushita in March 1998. He steadily climbed the ranks of makushita and after five consecutive winning records he was promoted to juryo in May 2000.
Juryo Career[]
Senshuyama only managed six wins in his sekitori debut and was demoted back down to makushita. He returned to juryo after only one tournament in makushita. He returned back to juryo in March 2002 where he produced two consecutive 10-5 records and was promoted to juryo 3 in July 2002. In this tournament he produced an 8-7 record after defeating Juzan on the final day. As a result he was promoted to the rank of juryo 2 where he produced a strong record of 9-6. This result would usually promote a rikishi to makuuchi, but due to limited slots, Senshuyama was only promoted to the rank of juryo 1. In this tournament he could only manage 5 wins. He remained in juryo for one more year before falling back down to makushita in January 2004.
He returned back to juryo in January 2005 and in March 2005 he produced a career-best 11-4 record. He followed with a 9-6 record and was promoted back to the rank of juryo 1 in July 2005.
