Komusubi Miyanishiki started out at Shibatayama stable
Shibatayama stable (芝田山部屋, Shibatayama-beya) was a stable of sumo wrestlers. It was established by the 29th Yokozuna Miyagiyama in May 1931 as Shiratama stable before switching to the name Shibatayama stable in January 1932. It closed its doors in November 1943, and its staff transferred to Takasago stable.
History[]
After retiring, the 29th yokozuna Miyagiyama established Shiratama stable and inherited all the wrestlers and staff from Takadagawa stable which he trained at as an active wrestler. In January 1932, the stable was renamed Shibatayama stable. Shibatayama Oyakata (the 29th yokozuna Miyagiyama) died and all the wrestlers transferred to Takasago stable. The stable was unable to produce any top division wrestlers, but among the people transferring to Takasago stable was komusubi Miyanishiki and maegashira Shimanishiki who were still in the unsalaried ranks.
