Yokozuna Miyagiyama with his stablemate Takadagawa Oyakata (former Osaka sumo Hayasegawa)
Takadagawa stable (高田川部屋, Takadagawa-beya) was a stable of sumo wrestlers. It was established in June 1917 by former Osaka sumo Hayasegawa. It closed its doors in February 1944, and its staff transferred to Takasago stable.
History[]
Takadagawa stable was originally part of the Osaka Sumo Association, but it became an official stable under Japan Sumo Association in June 1917 after the merger between Osaka and Tokyo sumo. Former Osaka sumo wrestler Hayasegawa served as head coach from 1917 to 1931. The stable was home to yokozuna Miyagiyama who later established Shibatayama stable after retiring. Takadagawa stable then transferred all its personnel to Shibatayama stable in January 1932. In 1943, Shibatayama stable closed down due to the death of its stablemaster and Hayasegawa revived Takadagawa stable and took in all of Shibatayama stable's wrestlers in January 1944. However, he died shortly after in February 1944 with all the staff transferred to Takasago stable.
