Takageppo Masatada - 貴月芳 将匡 (born April 19, 1990) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Koshigaya, Saitama. He made his debut in January 2009 and wrestled for Takanohana stable. His highest rank was makushita 14 and he retired in May 2014.

Early Life[]

Ogasawara began sumo wrestling with his younger twin brother Masaoki in the fifth grade. He attended Toyo University Affiliated Ushiku Senior High School in Ibaraki Prefecture where he led his team to team championship at the National High School Sumo Championship in 2008. After graduating from high school, he and his brother joined Takanohana stable off the recommendation of their father.

Career[]

He made his professional debut in January 2009 and was given the shikona "Takageppo" (貴月芳). He made his debut alongside Tokushoryu, Kimikaze, Azumaryu, Takarafuji, his brother Takatoshi and stablemate Takanoiwa.

He was promoted to sandanme in September 2009 and makushita in May 2010. He was unable to establish himself as a makushita regular until after winning the sandanme yusho with a perfect 7-0 record in November 2012. He was promoted to a career-best makushita 14 for the following January 2013 tournament, but he finished with a poor 2-5 record in this tournament.

Retirement from Sumo[]

Takageppo retired from sumo from sumo in March 2014, and his danpatsu-shiki, or retirement ceremony, was held on April 12th. However, his name still appeared on the May 2014 banzuke. In 2018, he and his brother established "Ogasawara-gumi Co., Ltd.", an interior demolition company, and he serves as the representative director of the company.

Takageppo was an oshi-sumo wrestler who prefers pushing and thrusting techniques to fighting on the mawashi. His most common kimarite used was a straightforward oshidashi, or push out.
