Takekuma-Oyakata: founder of the Takekuma stable

Takekuma stable (武隈部屋, Takekuma-beya) was a stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Tatsunami ichimon or group of stables. It was set up in March 1999 by the former sekiwake Kurohimeyama, who branched out from Tatsunami stable. The stable closed in March 2004, with its personnel moving to Tomozuna stable.

History[]

Takekuma stable was established in March 1999 by former sekiwake Kurohimeyama, who branched out from Tatsunami stable. Not wishing to overshadow Tatsunami's new stablemaster (ex-komusubi Asahiyutaka) who was some 20 years his junior. He took his sons with him, but Takekuma attracted no new recruits and folded in 2004 after only five years when his only remaining wrestler (Hagurokuni) retired.

Takekuma oyakata transferred to Tomozuna stable as a coach, where he remained until he reached his mandatory retirement age of 65.
