Takuro - 拓郎 (born February 24, 1956) is a retired Japanese professional sumo usher from Sapporo, Hokkaido. He debuted in the March 1975 tournament and last belonged to Kasugano stable. He reached the Makuuchi rank in January 1996 and the sanyaku rank in May 2002. He was promoted to deputy chief yobidashi in January 2008 and to chief yobidashi in November 2015. He retired in September 2019.

  • January 1996 - Promoted to Makuuchi yobidashi
  • May 2002 - Promoted to Sanyaku yobidashi
  • January 2008 - Promoted to deputy chief yobidashi
  • November 2013 - Transferred to Kasugano stable due to the closure of Mihogaseki stable
  • November 2015 - Promoted to chief yobidashi
  • September 2019 - Effectively retired after this tournament after a violence controversy and suspension announcement

Controversy[]

In October 2019, Takuro was suspended for two tournaments for hitting a junior yobidashi over the head after he caught him eating in the customer seating area on jungyo. Takuro announced his retirement after the announcement of the suspension, leaving the chief yobidashi rank empty until the promotion of Jiro to tate-yobidashi in January 2024.
