Tamagaki stable (玉垣部屋, Tamagaki-beya) was a stable of sumo wrestlers which was established in the Edo period and was shut down in September 1925.
History[]
The stable was established sometime during the Edo period. In 1884, the stable's top wrestler Umegatani I rose up to the highest rank of yokozuna. The stable was dominant in the Edo period and it had close ties with Ikazuchi stable and Isenoumi stable, however, it became weaker during the Meiji period and closed down in 1925.
