Tochinoshin's tegata.
tegata (手形) is a handprint. A memento consisting of a wrestler's handprint in red or black ink and his shikona written by the wrestler in calligraphy on a square paperboard. It can be an original or a copy. A copy of a tegata may also be imprinted onto other memorabilia such as porcelain dishes. Only sekitori wrestlers are allowed to make hand prints.
Overview[]
A Tegata is a traditional way of sharing a wrestler's autograph with his supporters. Only wrestlers in the upper two divisions are allowed to produce them.
Each Tegata is printed on a shikishi, a white sheet of paper backed by a firm paperboard with a very small (1/16") gold colored border. The red border in some images is just background color for contrast.
Dimensions of the shikishi board of the Tegata are 9.5" w x 10.75" h or 24cm w x 26cm h.
