Terunohana Kenji - 照の花 謙二 (born October 26, 1941) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Shimotsu, Wakayama. He made his debut in September 1956 and last wrestled for Isegahama stable. He reached the juryo division in January 1964. His highest rank was juryo 6 and he retired in May 1967.

Career[]

Born in Shimotsu (currently Kainan), Wakayama, he joined Isegahama stable and made his professional debut in September 1956, wrestling under his surname Michiwaki. He was promoted to sandanme in November 1959 and makushita in September 1960. In May 1962 he changed his shikona to "Terunohana" (照の花) and was promoted to juryo in January 1964. He was ranked in juryo for a total of 11 tournaments, reaching as high as juryo 6 in January 1965. He retired in May 1967 after falling down to sandanme.

Fighting Style[]

Terunohana was a yotsu-sumo wrestler who prefers grappling to pushing and thrusting techniques. He favored a hidari-yotsu (right hand outside, left hand inside) position when gripping his opponent's mawashi (belt). His most common kimarite was yorikiri, or force out.
