Tokitenran Nobuo - 時天嵐 信男 (born November 27, 2001) is a Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Ajigasawa, Aomori. He made his debut in March 2024 and currently wrestles for Tokitsukaze stable. His highest rank as of 2025 is makushita 27.

Early Life[]

Sora Sarukawa was born on November 27, 2001, in Ajigasawa, Aomori. He began sumo wrestling at the age of four at a local dojo. In his fifth year of elementary school, he won the Hakuho Cup and was the runner-up in the All Japan Elementary School Sumo Championships in his sixth year.[1]

After graduating from Ajigasawa Junior High School, he progressed to Goshogawara Agricultural & Forestry High School. In his second year, he reached the top 8 in the National Sports Festival and the National High School Selection Tournament. In his third year, he placed fourth in the All Japan Junior Weight Class Heavyweight Division and reached the top 8 in the National High School Selection Usa Tournament. Sarukawa went on to attend Tokyo University of Agriculture where he was a member of the school's sumo club. During his third year, he placed third in the East Japan Student Weight Class (under 135 kg) and third in the All Japan Student Championships. In his fourth year, he placed third in the East Japan Student Weight Class Open Division and reached the top 16 at the All Japan Student Championships. After graduating, he opted to enter professional sumo and joined Tokitsukaze stable.[1]

Career[]

He made his professional debut in March 2024 under the shikona "Tokitenran" (時天嵐). Due to his amateur accomplishments he was granted special dispensation, which allowed him to make his debut at the bottom of the sandanme division. In the July 2024 tournament, Tokitenran was aiming for the sandanme yusho and won his first six matches, however, he lost his final match to Inami to finish with a 6-1 record. Nevertheless, he was promoted to makushita for the following September 2024 tournament.[2]

Tokitenran is an oshi-sumo wrestler who prefers pushing and thrusting techniques to fighting on the mawashi. His most common kimarite used is oshidashi, or push out.[3]
