He won the jonokuchi yusho with a 5-1 record in March 1930. Upon promotion to makushita in March 1932, he was caught up in the so-called "Shunjuen Incident", when a number of top division wrestlers went on strike. He subsequently left the Japan Sumo Association and participated in the Kansai Sumo Association which was set up by former sekiwake Tenryu. During his time at the Kansai Sumo Association, Tominishiki worked as the bow twirler. Following the closure of the Kansai Sumo Association in January 1938 he returned to the Japan Sumo Association and restarted his career at the sandanme division. He was promoted to juryo in January 1939 and reached the top division in May 1940.

Tominishiki was ranked in makuuchi for a total of six tournaments, reaching as high as maegashira 7 in May 1941. He retired from sumo in May 1943 after falling back down to juryo.
Fighting Style[]
Tominishiki was proficient in both yotsu-sumo (grappling) and oshi-sumo (pushing and thrusting) techniques.
