Tachiyama was the stable's top wrestler
Tomozuna stable (友綱部屋, Tomozuna-beya) was a stable of sumo wrestlers which was established in 1891 and was shut down in December 1946. It was revived in 1961 by Komusubi Tomoegata (see Tomozuna stable page for reincarnation).
History[]
The stable was established in 1891 by former maegashira Kaizan who belonged to Tamagaki stable during his active career. The stable was home to the 22nd yokozuna Tachiyama who was the most dominant sumo wrestler of his era. In May 1921, former komusubi Yahazuyama took over the stable, but the stable gradually declined and It closed down in December 1946 with all its personnel transferring to Tatsunami stable.
