Tsuyukusa Kazuki - 露草 和樹 (born December 6, 1994) is a former Polish-Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Chuo, Sagamihara, Kanagawa. He made his debut in September 2016 and wrestled for Otake stable. His highest rank was makushita 51 and he retired in January 2021.
Early Life[]
Kazuyuki Tsuyukusa was born in Chuo Ward, Sagamihara, Kanagawa, Japan, to a Polish father and a Japanese mother. His father, Kazuyoshi, originally from Poland, acquired Japanese citizenship after meeting his mother while studying abroad in Japan.[1] Tsuyukusa moved to Poland at the age of 5 and attended local schools and international schools. After five years in Poland, he moved to Prague, Czech Republic, for two years. He returned to Japan for junior high school and attended International Christian University High School in Koganei, Tokyo.[2] He initially played soccer and also participated in baseball and bodybuilding.[1] Upon graduating high school, he attended Rikkyo University before dropping out to pursue a career in sumo wrestling.[3][4]
Career[]
Tsuyukusa joined Otake stable and made his professional debut in September 2016. In May 2017, during his fourth professional tournament, Tsuyukusa finished with a perfect 7-0 record, but missed out on the jonidan yusho after losing to Mihamaumi in a playoff. Three tournaments later Tsuyukusa finished with another spotless 7-0 record, but this time missed out on the sandanme yusho after losing to Tomokaze in a playoff. Nevertheless, he was promoted to makushita for the following January 2018 tournament. Tsuyukusa never managed to establish himself in makushita and never posted a winning record in makushita.[5]
Retirement from Sumo[]
Tsuyukusa retired from sumo in January 2021, citing personal reasons.[6] After retiring, he settled in Fukuoka, where he now oversees Kyushu sales for a global semiconductor trading company.[7]

- Tsuyukusa's Polish name is Kazimierz Konkol.[1] His nickname is Paul.[7]
- Tsuyukusa is trilingual, speaking Japanese, English, and Polish.[2]

Tsuyukusa was an oshi-sumo wrestler who prefers pushing and thrusting techniques to fighting on the mawashi. His most common kimarite used was a straightforward oshidashi, or push out.[8]
