Yokoyama Masahiro - 横山 正博 (born August 15, 1948) is a former Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Yokohama, Kanagawa. He made his debut in September 1967 and wrestled for Dewanoumi stable. His highest rank was makushita 30 and he retired in September 1973.

Early Life[]

Masahiro Yokoyama was born on August 15, 1948, in Kohoku Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa. His father was the 33rd Yokozuna Musashiyama. He attended Nihon University where he was a member of the school's sumo club, however, he later dropped out in 1967 to join Dewanoumi stable. This made him the first wrestler from Nihon University to join professional sumo.

Career[]

He made his professional debut in September 1967 and wrestled under his surname "Yokoyama" (横山). In May 1969, he won the jonokuchi yusho with a perfect 7-0 record after a two tournament absence. He was promoted to sandanme in September 1969 and spent the majority of his career in the division. In November 1972, he won the sandanme yusho with a perfect 7-0 record and was promoted to makushita for the following January 1973 tournament. However, he was unable to establish himself in makushita and was relegated back to sandanme in May 1973 after two losing records. He retired shortly after in September 1973.
